Emotional abuse, troubles at school, kid-parent problems, and domestic violence happen in every age group, every neighborhood, and every culture.

If you think you're in immediate danger, call 911. If you need help either to leave an abusive relationship or to learn about your options or just to have some one to talk about your situation, call our toll free hotline at 1-888-966-2350. In Merced, you can also call the local hotline at 722-HELP (722-4357). In Mariposa, call 966-2350.

Does your partner...

  • Call you names
  • Scare you by yelling
  • Try to control you by threatening or hurting you, your kids, or your pets
  • Push/hit/slap/punch/throw things at you
  • Pull your hair
  • Threaten you with a weapon (knife, gun, iron, or anything that could be used to hurt you)
  • Try to manipulate you by making it seem that things are your fault
  • Forbid you from leaving the house, getting a job, or talking to your relatives or friends
  • Threaten to have you deported
  • Force you to use drugs or have sex

Mountain Crisis Services and Valley Crisis Center can help with:

  • 24-hour crisis hotline referrals
  • Emergency and long-term shelter for battered women and their children
  • Nurturing counseling
  • Other life-changing support
